Sound Development and its associates are producers of communications products that balance the need for strong editorial content in video production and graphic design. It specializes in social and international issues.
Principal
Steven Hunt is executive producer with experience in journalism and international development. He has worked in Latin America and Africa on broadcast and communications projects.
His productions have appeared on CBC-TV, VisionTV, CourtTV, Radio Canada, AXESSTV Sweden, RTP Portugal, SIC Portugal, Lanete Poland, AVRO Holland, Documentary Channel US.
Steven is currently a correspondent for the VJMovement in Amsterdam.

Fred Yackman is the President of Yackman Communications Inc. and is a writer, broadcaster and television producer.
His work has appeared on Travel Channel, Discovery U.S.A., Documentary Channel US, Global TV, Bravo, Book TV, CourtTV, The Life Network (Spice), Radio Canada, YLE TV1 Finnish Broadcasting, AXESSTV Sweden, RTP Portugal, Lanete Poland and AVRO Holland.
In addition to documentaries, Fred has work on television series including:
- The Bird Guy – Life Network
- The Things We Do for Love – Life Network.
- RIP: Great Cemeteries of The World – Global TV
- Booked – Bravo, CourtTV and Book Canada
- Mahoney – CourtTV.
Fred held a variety of positions with these series including: creator, show runner, producer, director, writer and host.
Associate
Dave Johnson is a filmmaker from Saskatchewan where he was a member of the Saskatchewan Film Pool
He has worked as a sound engineer and location sound recorder and shared a SMPIA (Saskatchewan Motion Picture Industry Award) for best overall sound in a documentary. He has worked for The Homeless Street Nation website.
Dave won a Canadian Millennium and University of Regina Celebration scholarship and is a graduate of the MFA Program at Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. Dave is serving his third term on the board of directors at IFCO, Independent Filmmakers Co-op of Ottawa, and is working on a number of film and electro-acoustic projects.
He has traveled extensively in Europe, Japan, and Australia.
Associate

Celeste Mackenzie is a journalist, researcher, and documentary filmmaker. She has worked on several Sound Development Productions including ’Rising from the Ashes, ‘It’s Time’ and ’Duel with the Devil.’
Most recently Celeste worked a a visual reseracher on a 13-part documentary series for TFO about immigrants to French-speaking Canada (´Les immigrants que réussissent´). Celeste has also worked on film projects for White Pine Pictures and Xocomíl Productions.
As a journalist, Celeste has filed reports for several CBC Radio shows, LatinoUSA (NPR), Canadian Press, The Miami Herald, The Globe and Mail, Canadian Geographic, and a number of other US and Canadian publications.
She is fluent in Spanish and English, and functional in French.
