Skeptics Journals – the Seal Hunt
In what “Sealers” have condemned as a highly controversial move, the European Union has banned seal products because of the perceived cruelty of the hunt. Sealers, the Inuit, Canada and Norway see it as an ill-informed attack on an indigenous way of life that their opponents cannot comprehend.
This film brings four people – each from a different European country – who are open to re-examining their position against the hunt, across the Atlantic to Canadian communities that depend on sealing for their livelihood. The film is a video journal of their experiences with the people affected most by the ban. It will also capture daily web conversations and blogs with family and friends back in Europe, that encapsulates their skepticism and changing or non-changing opinion.
